I got this recipe from Jani, who worked the front desk at my primary care doctor's office. We used to talk food, recipes, and all kinds of fun stuff whenever I came in for an appointment. This is apparently a recipe passed down from her mom and it's all good!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp. Hoisin sauce
1-2 drops red food coloring
1 pork butt
1 slice ginger
1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a saucepan to melt the sugar.
2. Place the pork butt in a large pan and cover with water. Add a slice of ginger and boil for 30 minutes.
3. Pour marinade over meat and marinate overnight.
4. Put a pan of water under the meat and bake for 1 hour at 300F.
