Vanilla French Toast with Cinnamon Sugar and Maple Syrup


Ingredients:
3 large eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 cup half and half
Four 1" slices white bread
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tbsp. butter

CINNAMON SUGAR:
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Maple syrup

Pork breakfast sausage (opt.)

1. Combine eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl or shallow casserole and whisk to dissolve the sugar. Add the half and half and whisk to blend. 

2. Place the bread in the egg mixture and let sit until well moistened, about 2 minutes, turning once.

3. In the meantime, cook sausage patties and set aside (cover to keep warm).

4. Heat oil and butter on a griddle or in a large skillet over medium heat.

5. Transfer the soaked bread to the griddle or pan and cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side, turning once (pour over any leftover egg mix on the bread slices while cooking).

6. To serve: place 1 slice of toast on a large plate with sausage patties. Sprinkle toast with cinnamon sugar and maple syrup, as desired.
